We are extremely excited to introduce Executive Chef Brent Shriver to Radix House!
Background
Chef Shriver comes to us with not only a lifelong passion and devotion to cooking that began at the tender age of 8, but also the education and experience of a person who has stayed true to their passion.
Brent’s vegetarian parents unknowingly started his cooking journey by giving him the task of creating vinaigrette for the meals. Once they realized his passion for cooking, they bought him a camp-stove so that he could experiment with recipes in the backyard.
“When someone asks me what I do for a living, I just tell them I cook a lot of good food and they can take what they will from that. I usually surprise --- under promise but over deliver” said Shriver.
Education
His education includes receiving a Pastry and Baking Diploma (with Honors!) from Bellingham Technical College and a degree in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu Academy of Portland where he learned the ways of a James Beard Award winner – French Master Chef Philippe Boulot.
Working with Master Chef Boulot was difficult yet extremely rewarding. Aside from his parents, Brent says the Master Chef was the most influential person in his career. “He pushed me further and further. It was a pretty amazing experience working there for two years under a pretty high stress situation.”
Achievements
A few of Executive Chef Shrivers’ notable achievements include:
- World Food Championship, receiving 3rd in International Solo Chef division
- First CBD infused dinner at the James Beard house.
- Cooking for Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Worked the line at 3 Michelin 3 Star Alinea - named the Best Restaurant in America and is the only restaurant in Chicago, and one of only 12 in the U.S., to earn the coveted Michelin 3-Star rating.
- Numerous Paella Challenge first place wins
